You know how you hope, and maybe pray for something to work out, but it never actually seems to work out? Or maybe we just need to wait longer and we’re learning eternal patience? Or maybe we don’t seem to work out enough sometimes, in gyms?…but I am getting off topic and silly…
Then sometimes, even if it takes “mega more” time (is this a shampoo brand or something-“MegaMore”, or maybe I am thinking of “MegaMind”-super fun family movie! More on family movies in the future!) things really do work out.
Take the princess above, for instance. This is Jaeden. She is leaving on a gospel mission (and since the word “gospel” means “good news”, she will be a sort of ambassador of good journalism for God, I guess:). Anywho, she is headed for Texas, where she will likely wear cowgirl boots and a cowgirl hat, and return with a Texas accent. She will love all of this, and she will love Texas, because this bonus daughter above, Jaeden, loves people, and the gospel with her whole heart.
When Jaeden was in elementary school, she would intentionally stand at the door that stood between the school and recess, and greet each student individually. She would smile and offer encouragement and compliments, and when everyone was all set on the playground, she would run off and play too.
Zero people asked her to do this. They didn’t have to. Jaeden reaches out, with love, wherever she goes. When she came to us at age seven (more on this below), we knew the path to adulthood might cross some bumps. It did. There were times when I didn’t know how God thought we could be useful in a situation when so much of what we were trying to do, didn’t seem to be working. But I remembered a prayer, in a long ago grocery store parking lot, when I told God that our family would help if He wanted to send us someone who needed it. There were a lot of us in our family. We could try. Then I later learned that Jaeden too, had been praying for help. God, working in his mysterious ways, as He does, brought us all together.
Now this princess is an all-grown-up young lady. She is still growing, as we all are, in various capacities.
And in many ways, this spirit-filled, cheerful, more self-disciplined and focused than ever woman, is leading the way.
For more on Jaeden’s back story, this is a reprint of an article that was published a few years back:
